In the spirit of recycling, when Ring Used Parts (RUP) needed a new building at its Ocala branch it found a perfectly good used one to fit the bill.

The metal building, which had previously been used by Ring Power Corp's crane division at another location, was taken down and moved to the Ocala branch. Because it was used for cranes, the building has high doors and a high ceiling, which makes it ideal for the RUP facility. It also has an overhead crane that runs the full length of the building and three bays.

"We are now capable of tearing down any size machine. Before, we stuck to smaller machines because of our facilities. Now we are capable of tearing down any size machine, including D8 and D9 dozers and 980, 988 and 992 loaders," said Kent Tedder, general manager, Ring Used Parts.

"We were tearing down machines in the yard, now with the new facilities we can tear it down under cover. It is much neater and much quicker. It used to take us about two weeks to tear down a 320 excavator with one man, now we can do it in a week, so it has cut our tear down time in half so we can expedite parts availability."

All used parts for Ring Power Corp. go through its used parts division, Ring Used Parts (RUP). Most of the parts come through tearing down machines.

RUP will use anything that comes off a machine, including used and rebuilt components.

Surplus parts and used attachments also are available through RUP. The company, which currently has approximately 300 pieces and $12 million in inventory, has eight employees.
