CONCORD, N.H. (AP) A Texas man has been sentenced by a federal judge in New Hampshire to nearly six years in federal prison for attempting to sell cranes and other construction equipment that he did not own.
U.S. Attorney Scott Murray says 53-year-old Steven Orr, of Grapevine, was sentenced Sept. 20 to 71 months in prison for two wire fraud offenses and unlawful possession of firearms.
Law enforcement officials say he offered to sell four loaders in June to a New Hampshire company for $120,000 and 21 cranes in August to an Illinois company for $2.2 million.
Both companies wired money to Orr's personal bank account in Texas without realizing he didn't own or lacked the authority to sell the equipment.
Orr's lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
