Just like for its siblings the CC 38.650-1 and CC 88.1650-1, Tadano now offers a Boom  Booster for the CC 68.1250-1. Its special design increases the main boom's stiffness, boosting the crane's lifting capacity by up to 30 percent. Grove Launches GMK4070L at bauma 2022 →

To strengthen its four-axle all-terrain crane line-up, Manitowoc unveiled its Grove GMK4070L at bauma 2022 in Munich, Germany. The 77 ton GMK4070L boasts the strongest load charts and the longest boom in its class at 197 ft. At its full 197 ft., the crane lifts an impressive 4.8 ton, while at 161 ft. owners can pick loads of up to 9.1 ton. Manitowoc Launches Grove GRT8100-1 Rough-Terrain Crane →

Manitowoc used its attendance at bauma 2022 to launch its latest rough-terrain crane: the Grove GRT8100-1. This upgrade of the hugely popular GRT8100 will be available from 2023 and offers a series of improvements over the original GRT8100. Many of the enhancements stem from a new chassis that shares commonality with the chassis from the proven 132 ton capacity GRT8120. Manitowoc Unveils Potain MDT 159 Topless Tower Crane at bauma 2022 →

Manitowoc unveiled the latest addition in its Potain MDT City crane range at bauma 2022, the 6.6 ton capacity MDT 159, which fills the gap between the MDT 139 and MDT 189. With a 197 ft. maximum jib, the crane is suited to small to midsized building projects of up to 10 floors, and it has been specially designed for tight urban job sites. Two Powerhouse Lattice Crawlers Ready to Rent in Southeast →

Two heavyweight lattice boom crawler cranes are making their presence felt in the southeastern states. The Liebherr LR 11000 and Liebherr LR 1800-1.0 are recent acquisitions by the ALL Family of Companies, with branches in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, North Carolina and Tennessee. Construction Crane Numbers Rise Across North America →

After taking a dip in 2021, the North American crane sector is experiencing a comeback. In its first quarter report released in April, the Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) Crane Index logged a 4.5-percent increase in cranes at work across the continent. Toronto, Canada, is ahead of the pack in terms of number of working rigs. RLB reports that the crane industry is "essentially recovering to crane counts from this time last year." Of the 14 cities surveyed, five experienced an increase, six stayed the same and three decreased.  Click for more...


Canadian Company R&D Crane Brings Together Four Cranes to Deliver Major Toronto Bridge →

Canada's Cherubini Bridges and Structures has completed work on the Four Signature Bridges contract for Toronto's Port Lands project. The job wrapped up in style with the company successfully orchestrating a complex four-crane pick to get the final 492 ton segment of the bridge sent up the St. Lawrence River by barge. The lift of the 73 ft.-wide, 187 ft.-long Cherry Street North Bridge was performed by R&D Crane which — like the fabricator — is a division of Cherubini Group.  Click for more...

Link-Belt 348 Moves 16 Times in Four Months →

TMC Cranes LLC of Monroe, Ga., recently took ownership of a new 300-ton Link-Belt 348 Series 2 lattice crawler crane for precast tilt panel business in the southeastern United States. "Since we took delivery of this 348 four months ago we have moved it 16 times," said crane operator at TMC Cranes, Matthew DeLoach. "We have an H5 [348 H5] we moved 41 times last year. Sixty-five members of the 2022 Electric Power Research Institute's (EPRI) Hoisting and Rigging Cranes User Group attended a five-day conference at the Hilton Lexington/Downtown in Lexington, Ky. Ring Power Crane recently opened a branch location in Aiken, S.C. The "branch campus" consists of five buildings situated on a 5-acre parcel of land and was selected for its geographic positioning in the state of South Carolina. Prior to becoming a Ring Power Crane branch, the property selected housed the operations of a major local construction company. German crane services company Merkel Autokrane selected two of its 275.5 ton Grove all-terrain cranes for a challenging tandem lift in the Bamberg area of Lower Franconia. The GMK5250XL-1 and GMK5250L were called in to build a multi-story parking lot for one of the world's largest online retailers of musical instruments.
