Sims Crane & Equipment Co. , the largest private crane rental and rigging service company in Florida, hosted a 65th company anniversary event with a day of exciting activities to celebrate the company's continued expansion and honor its 1,400 dedicated employees. The festivities were held Jan. 7 at the Sun N' Fun Expo Campus. Every superhero has an origin story. So does ALL Erection & Crane Rental's "Hulk," the nickname for its brand new Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3. (The machine's eye-catching green paint job earned it the moniker.) It was late last summer when the Hulk was sent on its first mission, along with a sister crane, to the Southgate Parkway Bridge project in Cambridge, Ohio. Grove GMK5250XL-1 Extends Helping Hand to German Soccer Club VfB Stuttgart →

A Grove GMK5250XL-1 belonging to German lifting service provider Gräser-Eschbach has completed its final lifts on the reconstruction of the MHP Arena soccer stadium in Stuttgart, Germany. Home to Bundesliga team VfB Stuttgart, the stadium has been undergoing redevelopment since 2018, although the erection of temporary sections has allowed it to remain operational during this time. Gräser-Eschbach, based in Bad Schönborn, Germany, had previously used other cranes, but restrictions on this part of the project meant structural components had to be placed underneath the existing 98 ft.-high roof.  Click for more...


ALL Crane Adding New Kobelco G-3 Series Hydraulic Crawlers →

The ALL Family of Companies is adding a new package of Kobelco G-3 Series hydraulic crawler cranes to its fleet. Each unit is part of Kobelco's redesigned, "repowered" cranes unveiled at ConExpo last March. The package includes the following units, in varying quantities: CK800G-3 (80-ton capacity), CK1100G-3 (110-tons) and CK1600G-3 (160-tons). World's First Potain MR 229 Luffing Jib Tower Crane Erected in London, UK →

Radius Group, a UK crane rental company and Potain partner since 2008, recently erected the world's first Potain MR 229 luffing jib crane. This milestone deployment occurred on a project for housing association L&Q Group, featuring 476 new homes on the Greenwich Peninsula in London. Radius Group had already selected four MR 225 A cranes for the project based on the maximum capacity requirement of 2.4 tons at full reach but increasing efficiency pressures led the company to swap one of the MR 225 A cranes for an MR 229 as soon as it became available.  Click for more...

That unit being the Jekko JF990, which is the biggest transportable crawler crane in the brand's lineup. ALL Crane First to Get New Liebherr Rough Terrain Crane →

The newest rough terrain (RT) cranes from Liebherr are set to make their world debut in the field when the ALL Family of Companies takes delivery of the first five units through early next year. The Liebherr LRT 1130-2.1 boasts the strongest-in-class 140-ton capacity and the longest telescopic boom (197 ft.) of any two-axle RT in the world, according to the manufacturer. In August, Atlanta mayor Andre Dickens announced a novel plan for tackling his city's homeless problem by repurposing converted shipping containers into temporary housing. By November, the plan was in action, and ALL Crane Rental of Georgia, a member of the ALL Family of Companies, played a crucial role. Cropac Equipment has been serving the heavy equipment needs of Canadian contractors since 1977, and it recently purchased the first GT-800XL-2 in Canada. Potain MD 305 B Leads Construction Work On Major Apartment Development in Moldova →

Real estate developer Filli Partner purchased a used Potain MD 305 B for work on its City Plaza development, a residential project under construction in central Ungheni. Building work is set to last two years, with the project's opening scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. Tower Crane Numbers Across North America Holding Their Own →

The number of cranes at work during the second half of this year has decreased approximately 10 percent. That decline is attributed to rising interest rates and the fact that projects are nearing completion. Of the major cities surveyed, six saw drops of 20 percent while in two areas the number of rigs at work went up. Six other cities maintained their numbers. "The residential sector continues to see the most consistent growth, along with mixed-use projects," said Taryn Harbert of Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB).  Click for more...

A fall weekend in downtown Columbus, Ohio, looked like an all-terrain crane takeover as two Liebherr LTM 1450 ATs were hard at work on two separate projects on the same street. Both cranes were provided by ALL Crane Rental Corp. , a member of the ALL Family of Companies. The first job was swapping out a series of transformers from the 15th floor of a high-rise. DICA Releases New Resource for Determining Soil Bearing Capacity →

DICA has released a new resource on its website to help users better assess and understand ultimate soil strengths and allowable ground bearing pressures. Before setting up a crane or other equipment with outriggers, it's essential to evaluate the ground conditions to properly position the equipment and to use appropriate pads (area, strength and stiffness) to keep the equipment upright.
