The Manitowoc Company has launched the NBT60L, the latest addition to its National Crane boom truck product line. This 60 ton product offering now features the longest boom length in its tonnage class with 151 ft. (46 m) of main boom and a maximum main boom height of 161 ft. (49 m). Covey Crane Service Adds New 45-Ton Capacity Manitex →

Covey Crane Service of Spencerport, N.Y., has just added a new Manitex TC45142C, 45-ton capacity boom truck to its fleet. Covey purchased it from local Manitex dealer Empire Crane Company, who has sold more than 25 Manitex boom trucks in 2018 alone. Raymond Ziegler, president of Covey Crane said "we chose to purchase a Manitex boom truck again, because of our great experience with the 40124SHL and Empire Crane." Terex Number Nine for Elmer W. Davis →

On Oct. 5, Elmer W. Davis Inc. picked up its new 2018 Terex BT28106 boom truck from Empire Crane Company LLC in Syracuse, N.Y. The BT28106 will be the ninth Terex (fourth BT28106) in its continually growing crane fleet. Elmer W. Davis Inc., one of the largest roofing contractors in New York, has become particulary fond of Terex cranes. Superintendent Damon Runyon expressed the "ease of service" with his Terex machines, saying they are "reliable cranes with almost no downtime." 1,000+ Items Used in Panama Canal Expansion Project Up for Auction →

With original construction more than 100 years ago, the Panama Canal, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans through Central America, has had numerous upgrades through the years. Recently, a massive 10-year project to construct a third set of locks and increase the capacity of the canal was completed by Grupo Unidos por el Canal (GUPC), an international consortium of industrial contractors. Of the five bids submitted to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in 2013 for the Fitchburg Commuter Rail Improvements Track, Civil and Signal Project, the joint-venture of J. F. White Contracting Co. and LM Heavy Civil Construction (LMH) — J.F. White/LM Heavy JV — submitted the lowest bid at $57.7 million and crews were on site in July 2013. One of Michigan’s Best: ’Mr. Boom Truck’ Dennis Berling Passes Away →

One of Michigan’s top and best-known boom truck salesmen, Dennis “Berls” Berling passed away on March 5, 2015 in White Lake, Mich., after a three-year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was 71. Mr. Berling worked for Ford Motor Company’s Rouge Plant in an office setting responsible for shipping cars from 1966 to 1987. After three years as owner of his own business (Denny’s Dairy Mart), he landed a job as an equipment salesman for KMH Equipment Co.  Click for more...
