The women living in a restored bungalow in Hagerstown, Md., share more than a home. Each has graduated from substance abuse treatment through the local Brooke's House program and is now taking the first steps to independence with full-time careers at Manitowoc Cranes in Shady Grove, Pa. On Feb. 9, the home's residents, joined by Brooke's House founders Kevin and Dana Simmers and Manitowoc representatives, dedicated the property as "The Manitowoc House." ALL Helps Set Temporary Bridge for Its Own Flagship Crane Yard →

A roadway servicing the flagship yard of ALL Erection & Crane Rental was the site of some crane work of its own, as one of ALL's massive all-terrain cranes helped install a temporary bridge at the site. The 40-acre yard is located in Independence, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland, and the Cuyahoga River runs through the site. Cuyahoga County recently began a replacement project for the bridge that spans the river, which will require the temporary bridge to be in place for approximately 18 months.  Click for more...

A crane operator's comfort is crucial to a successful day at work. Discomfort to the point of tension is unhealthy, while relaxing to the point of drowsiness is a danger to the operator, crew and people on the ground. The notion of operator comfort during a long shift, whether that's high up in a tower crane cab or closer to the ground in a mobile rig, is gaining traction. Hurricane Ian struck Florida in late September. One of its enduring images was the collapsed Sanibel Causeway, which links Sanibel Island to Punta Rassa near Fort Myers on the mainland. Just a few broken sections of roadway remained, breaking the surface of San Carlos Bay. Without the 3-mi. causeway, the island and its residents were cut off from access to relief supplies. Safety is key when any crane is on a job site, but a tower crane requires safety managers to have a rescue plan in place. A medical emergency can occur any time on the job, even to a crane operator in a tower crane cab. Many crane companies make rescue training sessions a regular part of their safety training programs. And many will get the local fire and rescue team involved. After Productive Year, Crane Work Ends On Indianapolis' Huge Highway Project →

The highway project to completely re-route and reimagine Indianapolis' I-65/I-70 North Split interchange is winding down. Central Rent-A-Crane, a member of the ALL Family of Companies, has completed its work setting bridge beams for the project. A portion of westbound I-70 was opened to vehicular traffic in early October. The original North Split was built nearly 50 years ago and became an infamous traffic tangle, earning the nickname "the spaghetti bowl."
