Cranes Key to Giving Ventura Freeway Its New Look →

The California Department of Transportation's (Caltrans) $55 million Interstate 5 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV, or carpool) lane project between State Route 134 (the Ventura Freeway) and Magnolia Boulevard is expected to be substantially completed this Spring. Over the last three years Bigge Crane and Rigging, which is consistently ranked among the Top 10 global crane companies, has used a lot of Potain tower cranes. Ring Power Crane and Manitowoc had a lot to celebrate at this year's ConExpo. Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority Receive Grove Training in Italy →

Technicians from Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority (GPHA) visited Manitowoc's facility in Niella Tanaro, Italy, to learn proactive maintenance and basic repairs on the Grove RT530E-2 rough-terrain crane. Manitowoc offers training for technicians on demand year-round from its Manitowoc Crane Care facilities around the world. Wilhite Crane & Rigging Lifts Secretariat Statue Into Place →

An artist in Norman, Okla., Jocelyn Russell, was commissioned to create a 3,800 lb. bronze statue of Secretariat racing with its famed jockey, Ron Turcotte. Wilhite Crane & Rigging of Lexington lifted the Secretariat statue in late fall 2019. The statue was lifted with its Link-Belt 60-ton HTC-8660 Series II. The statue is located at the center of a traffic roundabout at Alexandria Drive and Old Frankfort Pike outside of Lexington and is valued at roughly $300,000.  Click for more...

Tadano debuted the GR-150XL-3, a new compact rough terrain crane for the North American market, at ConExpo-Con/AGG. With a 78.7 ft. boom, the longest boom in this class, a tailswing of just 4.1 ft. and asymmetric outriggers, the GR-150XL-3 is ideal for tight workspaces where mobility cannot be compromised, according to the manufacturer. Link-Belt Cranes had the 300-ton (273-t) 348 Series 2 on display at ConExpo 2020. For the first time since introduction, Link-Belt displayed the new 348 Series 2 with its new luffing attachment configuration utilizing a conventional combination top. The new heavy-duty combination top boom section is built for conventional boom makeup or luffing boom configuration. Tadano Mantis Corporation exhibited the new GTC-1600 at ConExpo-Con/AGG 2020. The 160-ton model will expand the GTC product line to six machines. The new GTC-1600 (160 ton/145 t) boasts a 6-section, 42.8 to 200.1 ft. (13.1 to 61.0 m) hydraulic boom designed for flexibility – with higher, longer capabilities for lift work, while also enabling out-of-level and pick-and-carry work. US Crane & Rigging Orders Seven Liebherr Cranes at ConExpo →

US Crane and Rigging LLC owner Thomas Auringer placed an order for seven Liebherr cranes at the Liebherr stand at the ConExpo. The order consists of two all-terrain cranes (LTM), two rough terrain cranes (LRT) and three tele crawlers (LTR). The cranes will be delivered throughout 2020.
