The first Grove GRT655L and GRT655 rough terrain cranes have been assembled at Manitowoc's Niella Tanaro plant. The news comes almost exactly one year after it was announced that GRT880 and GRT8100 rough terrain cranes would begin production from the Italian factory — the first to be produced outside of Shady Grove, Pa. Winston-Salem Bridge Construction Continues for 248 HSL →
In November 2018, a one-mile stretch of major highway in Winston-Salem, N.C., was closed for demolition and resurfacing. The stretch of road will reopen in early 2020, complete with new bridge overpasses, modernizing on and off ramps, and straightening its path (with fewer curves) through the city. The 248 HSL is positioned on a 100 ft. (30.4 m) stretch of timber mats to lift the girders off transport trailers and into position. Click for more...

Blakeslee, Arpaia, Chapman Inc. (BAC Inc) of Branford, Conn., was hired as subcontractor to complete 300 ft. (91.4 m) of elevated boardwalk at Silver Sands State Park in Milford, Conn. In order to build a 10 ft. (3.04 m) high, elevated trestle BAC Inc. rented a 75-ton (70-t) Link-Belt TCC-750 telescopic crawler crane from Wood's CRW Corp. Terex Corporation announced that following the completion of the sale of Demag mobile cranes to Tadano Ltd. , Steve Filipov, president of Terex Cranes, is leaving the company effective August 5, 2019. "We are grateful to Steve [Filipov] for leading this transition," said John L. Garrison Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Terex Corporation. "Steve kept the business on course through the transfer and helped ensure that virtually all of the affected team members had the opportunity to stay with the Demag mobile cranes business after the transaction." The rest of the businesses within the Terex Cranes segment have successfully transitioned within the company: Terex Utilities is now part of the Aerial Work Platforms segment; Franna Pick-and-Carry cranes in Australia are part of the Materials Processing segment; and the tower and rough-terrain cranes businesses in Italy are part of corporate. Records were being broken as a brand-new roller coaster rose this spring in Pittsburgh, Pa.'s Kennywood Park, which is currently in its 121st season. The Steel Curtain, which was born from a partnership between the park and the city's NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, holds the record for the tallest inversion in the world at 197 ft. tall. More than 35 Potain tower cranes are working on the construction of the New El Alamein City, an urban development being built on Egypt's northern coast. The cranes were sold by International Development Programmes (IDP), Potain's dealer for Egypt. The high-profile project will offer year-round living and accommodate a population of more than 3 million across an area of approximately 52,000 acres. A Liebherr LG 1750 provided the primary lifting power for Trand Inc. during a nearly two-week long project in May. The company provided crane services for a main shaft exchange on a wind turbine with a nearly 400-ft. (122 m) hub height in the Lubbock, Texas, area. Based in Pratt, Kan., Trand took delivery of the first LG 1750 in the United States in March. The Potain MCT 385 L14 top-slewing crane has won the "Tower Crane of the Year" award at bauma CTT RUSSIA 2019. Czech special transport company B+V Trans s.r.o. has taken delivery of a new Grove GMK5150L all-terrain crane to assist with loading and unloading trailers. B+V Trans is based in Tabor, Czechia, and is a specialist of heavy and oversized transport; it can transport parts with lengths of up to 147 ft. (45 m) and weights of up to 66 ton (60 t).
