Kennywood Roller Coaster Breaks Records →

Records were being broken as a brand-new roller coaster rose this spring in Pittsburgh, Pa.'s Kennywood Park, which is currently in its 121st season. The Steel Curtain, which was born from a partnership between the park and the city's NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, holds the record for the tallest inversion in the world at 197 ft. tall. IDP Supplies Potain Cranes for Major New Development in Egypt →

More than 35 Potain tower cranes are working on the construction of the New El Alamein City, an urban development being built on Egypt's northern coast. The cranes were sold by International Development Programmes (IDP), Potain's dealer for Egypt. The high-profile project will offer year-round living and accommodate a population of more than 3 million across an area of approximately 52,000 acres. Headquartered in Madrid, Transportes y Grúas Aguado has seven premises across the country and specializes in the transport and lifting of large loads. Trand Chooses Liebherr LG 1750 for Wind Turbine Project in West Texas →

A Liebherr LG 1750 provided the primary lifting power for Trand Inc. during a nearly two-week long project in May. The company provided crane services for a main shaft exchange on a wind turbine with a nearly 400-ft. (122 m) hub height in the Lubbock, Texas, area. Based in Pratt, Kan., Trand took delivery of the first LG 1750 in the United States in March. The LG 1750is an 850 ton- (771 t) class eight axle, lattice boom mobile crane with the mobility of a drivable carrier and the lifting capacity of a crawler crane.  Click for more...

The Potain MCT 385 L14 top-slewing crane has won the "Tower Crane of the Year" award at bauma CTT RUSSIA 2019. The award was part of the "Innovations in construction equipment in Russia" contest, which aimed at identifying innovative construction equipment solutions in Russia. Czech special transport company B+V Trans s.r.o. has taken delivery of a new Grove GMK5150L all-terrain crane to assist with loading and unloading trailers. B+V Trans is based in Tabor, Czechia, and is a specialist of heavy and oversized transport; it can transport parts with lengths of up to 147 ft. (45 m) and weights of up to 66 ton (60 t). NBBB is a custom vessel construction company established in 1964. The first major project on the books for its Link-Belt 298 Series 2 was lifting a 125,000 lb. Manitowoc Sells and Ships 1,000th Igo T 85 →

Manitowoc's manufacturing facility in Charlieu, France, has shipped its 1,000th Igo T 85. The landmark self-erecting crane has been sold to a customer in Benelux. The Igo T 85 was launched in 2008 and immediately rose in popularity across Europe, particularly in Germany and France. Since then, it has become well known in Asia and the United States. In 2011, an upgraded model — the Igo T 85 A — was developed to include a third additional mast section and new slewing system, reaching 124.6 ft.  Click for more...

Crane, Bulldozer Partner to Set Cantilever Bridge →

Cranes and bulldozers rule different realms: one, the air and the other, land. It's not every day they collaborate on setting a bridge, but they did just that for a temporary cantilever bridge in Aurora, N.C., earlier this year. On behalf of Enercon, Belgian crane service provider Aertssen removed the 79 ton (72 t), 190 ft. (58 m) long rotor blades from an Enercon E-126 wind turbine at a height of approximately 446 ft. (136 m) for maintenance. However, what may sound like a routine job was actually a tricky challenge, and it was only the team's extensive experience and two Demag CC 3800 lattice boom crawler cranes that enabled them to successfully carry out the corresponding lifts.  Click for more...


Grove's GRT655 A Perfect Choice for Philadelphia's Riverwalk Project →

B. Pietrini and Sons, based in King of Prussia, Pa., added a Grove GRT655 to its fleet to complete the Riverwalk Project in Philadelphia. The rough terrain crane, which is helping construct the first few levels of a 28-story and a 32-story residential building, will be onsite through the completion of the first four floors of the two buildings. Fran Pietrini, CEO of B. When an airplane skidded off the runway and into the St. Johns River on Jacksonville Naval Air Station (NAS) in Jacksonville, Fla., on May 3, Mobro Marine Inc. knew just what to do. "We became involved in the plane salvage and move when we heard about the accident on the news," explained Stephen Cumella, who has been the chief financial officer for Mobro Marine since 2004.
