OSHA Delays Crane Operator Evaluation Documentation Requirement →

In response to industry requests, OSHA has announced it is delaying full enforcement of its requirement for employers to evaluate their crane operators. In a memorandum to OSHA Regional Administrators and State Plans, OSHA Acting Director of the Directorate of Construction Scott Ketcham stated that during the first 60 days of enforcement (until April 15, 2019), OSHA will evaluate good faith efforts taken by employers in their attempt to meet the new documentation requirements for operators of cranes used in construction.  Click for more...

Dominion Energy Virginia, a unit of Dominion Energy Inc. , finalized purchase of a Link-Belt 150-ton (135-t) RTC-80150 Series II for North Anna Power Station in Mineral, Va. A scheduled shutdown every 18 months for the generating plant requires repairs and maintenance around the clock for a 30-day period. Idaho Hospital Bids Farewell to 'Sheila,' Sets Skybridge →

A towering feature on the Boise, Idaho, skyline is disappearing, its job done after more than a year on site. Dubbed "Sheila" by project manager Jamal Nelson, the 175-ft.-tall Linden Comansa 2100 tower crane played a critical role in the construction of the new Idaho Elk's Children's Pavilion since its erection in June 2017. In late October, two assist cranes — a Liebherr 1300 360-ton and a Terex T780 80-ton — arrived at the hospital site to dismantle the tower crane and move it off site.  Click for more...

National Crane has announced a new rapid attach platform for its NBT boom truck series previously unveiled at Crane Days 2018. The completely redesigned platform will replace previous iterations and comes in two styles: yoke style (Y-RAP2) and rotating style (R-RAP2). Mammoet Makes Port Crane Move Happen →

Mammoet was approached by Termont Montréal Inc. to relocate a port crane from one of its terminals to another one, 1.5 miles away. Originally, the request was to load out the port crane onto a barge and ship it to its new location. This was because port operators positioned between Termont's two terminals had safety concerns about moving the crane through their properties.
