Deep South Crane & Rigging Adds Four Liebherr All-Terrain Mobile Cranes →

Deep South Crane & Rigging recently acquired four Liebherr mobile cranes — two each of the LTM 1450-8.1, a 550-ton (499 t) class crane, and the LTM 1300-6.2, a 360-ton (326.5 t) class crane. The acquisitions give the company more cranes with longer telescoping booms than it has had to date. Herbert Nadolny, managing director of H.N. Krane from Groß Schwaß near Rostock, and his two crane operators, Phillip Hinze and Johannes Astecker,picked up their brand-new Demag AC 130-5 all terrain crane in Zweibrücken. The crane was handed over by Terex Cranes Senior Sales Manager Christian Kassner and his colleague, Sales Manager Ulrich Wagner. Smoot began his career at Link-Belt in 2007 as an associate product technician before moving into the product marketing group as marketing product specialist for HTC and ATC's. Grove GMK Tandem Lift Showcases Impressive Heavy Lift At Detroit Docks →

JJ Curran, a Detroit, Michigan-based crane rental and lifting service, recently was called upon to help with a massive lifting job at the city docks. The project involved hoisting a 116.5 ton (105.6 t) gas "scrubber," which was 109 ft. (33 m) long and 19.5 ft. (5.9 m) in diameter, from a barge docked on the Detroit River to the dock on Zug Island. Class in Session for Empire Crane Service Technicians →

Empire Crane service technicians took a break from the cold and were in class with the Demag service and maintenance training program Feb. 4 to 8. The class taught by Training Instructor Robert Ourt focused on the technical components of the Demag 5 axle family of all terrain cranes, including the AC 130-5, AC 160-5, AC 220-5, and AC 250-5. Terex to Sell Demag Mobile Cranes Business →

Terex Corporation has announced that it has agreed to sell its Demag Mobile Cranes business to Tadano Ltd. for an enterprise value of approximately $215 million. The Demag Mobile Cranes business manufactures and sells all terrain cranes and large crawler cranes. Included in the transaction are the manufacturing facilities in Zweibrucken, Germany and multiple sales and service locations. The sale, which is subject to government regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions, is targeted to close in mid-2019.  Click for more...

OSHA Delays Crane Operator Evaluation Documentation Requirement →

In response to industry requests, OSHA has announced it is delaying full enforcement of its requirement for employers to evaluate their crane operators. In a memorandum to OSHA Regional Administrators and State Plans, OSHA Acting Director of the Directorate of Construction Scott Ketcham stated that during the first 60 days of enforcement (until April 15, 2019), OSHA will evaluate good faith efforts taken by employers in their attempt to meet the new documentation requirements for operators of cranes used in construction.  Click for more...

Dominion Energy Virginia Purchases Link-Belt RT for North Anna Shutdown →

Dominion Energy Virginia, a unit of Dominion Energy Inc. , finalized purchase of a Link-Belt 150-ton (135-t) RTC-80150 Series II for North Anna Power Station in Mineral, Va. A scheduled shutdown every 18 months for the generating plant requires repairs and maintenance around the clock for a 30-day period.
