The city of Gulf Shores, Ala.'s $15 million revitalization investment in its beachfront continues to pay dividends with construction of the second major hotel along the strip. The 257-room, eight-floor Embassy Suites Gulf Shores is being constructed with a big assist from a tower crane provided by ALL Crane Rental of Alabama, a member of the ALL Family of Companies. Grove Upgrades GMK6400-1 to GMK6450-1 →

The Grove GMK6400-1 will be upgraded to the GMK6450-1 and carry an increased maximum capacity rating of 496 tons, which is 55 tons more than the previous GMK6400-1. The challenge: replace a section of railroad bridge in a close, urban setting — in which you will need to use the remaining tracks to both roll the old bridge section away and roll the replacement section into the work zone. The company acquired its second Grove GMK5250XL-1 all-terrain crane and wasted no time putting it to work. The new crane was sent to a building in downtown Hamburg to lift a ventilation unit onto a rooftop. Downtown Knoxville, Tenn., hit a grand slam in the form of a $114-million minor league baseball stadium and adjoining apartments, condominiums and retail space on the city's east side. Dutch crane rental company Kraanverhuur Boekestijn is using its new Grove GMK6300L-1 to handle a months-long project replacing windows on a high-rise building in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam. Space on the downtown project was extremely limited but the all-terrain crane still had to be set up with 82 tons of counterweight, 262 ft. main boom, and 121 ft. and 95 ft. hydraulic swingaway jibs. Two Grove Cranes From Palumbo Heavy Lift Team Up for Spectacular Tandem Lifts in Naples →

Italian heavy lift and transport company Palumbo Heavy Lift used two strong Grove all-terrain cranes to dismantle long masts on a sailing superyacht at a yard in Naples. The yard is one of seven owned by Palumbo Group. The Grove GMK5250XL-1 and GMK7450 teamed up to carefully remove 210 ft. and 170 ft. masts on a 213 ft. Perini Navi sailing yacht as part of a refit and refurbishment project. Turkish crane rental company ÖZ TUNCEL and its Grove GMK6300L-1 all-terrain crane were called in for a rescue operation at Istanbul Airport. A FedEx Express Boeing 767 cargo plane touched down at the airport without its front landing gear, bumping its nose on the runway and sending sparks flying in a dramatic incident that attracted worldwide attention.
