Inspecting Tower Cranes Maintains Efficiency, Keeps Personnel Safe →

Tower cranes are a critical building tool. For many urban construction jobs to begin, tower cranes need to be assembled onsite well in advance. Much like the buildings they are used to construct, an assessment need to be performed before the crane is put into operation. Once assembled, work can only be started after the crane is approved by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Arizona-based Stafford Crane Group (SCG) has announced the acquisition of Portuguese tower crane manufacturer Soima Cranes. With this acquisition, SCG gains control over design and production of its tower crane equipment and will be able to take its customer service in rental operations to the next level, the company said. Patrick Curtis Leatherwood, 55, passed away Sept. 10, 2021, at home. Mr. Leatherwood was born Oct. 13, 1965, in East Point, Ga. In 1971, his family moved to Moultrie, Ga., where he grew up and graduated from Colquitt County High School. He then attended the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. Following a two-month journey that included a dramatic passage under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and the Francis Scott Key Bridge, four new, massive Neo-Panamax container cranes arrived Sept. 9 at the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore's Seagirt Marine Terminal. Hong Kong-based heavy equipment rental company Kanson Crane & Heavy Transport has added three new Grove GMK4100L-1 all-terrain cranes to its fleet. The company placed the order for the units off the back of previous experience with its GMK4100L units, the forerunner to the GMK4100L-1. Two of the cranes arrived in May with the third delivered in July.
