DICA has announced that the International Union of Operating Engineers' (IUOE) Training Center in Crosby, Texas, has received a set of FiberMax Crane Pads to use with its two new all-terrain cranes. As one of the IUOE's equipment partners, these FiberMax 6x4x6 crane pads join other DICA products already in use at the training center. DICA products on site include SafetyTech and FiberTech Outrigger Pads, ProStack engineered cribbing blocks and TrainSmart Pole Barrier Systems, which were provided to the center when it first opened in 2018. Hurricane Ian struck Florida in late September. One of its enduring images was the collapsed Sanibel Causeway, which links Sanibel Island to Punta Rassa near Fort Myers on the mainland. Just a few broken sections of roadway remained, breaking the surface of San Carlos Bay. Without the 3-mi. causeway, the island and its residents were cut off from access to relief supplies. The highway project to completely re-route and reimagine Indianapolis' I-65/I-70 North Split interchange is winding down. Central Rent-A-Crane, a member of the ALL Family of Companies, has completed its work setting bridge beams for the project. A portion of westbound I-70 was opened to vehicular traffic in early October. The original North Split was built nearly 50 years ago and became an infamous traffic tangle, earning the nickname "the spaghetti bowl." To strengthen its four-axle all-terrain crane line-up, Manitowoc unveiled its Grove GMK4070L at bauma 2022 in Munich, Germany. The 77 ton GMK4070L boasts the strongest load charts and the longest boom in its class at 197 ft. Manitowoc used its attendance at bauma 2022 to launch its latest rough-terrain crane: the Grove GRT8100-1. This upgrade of the hugely popular GRT8100 will be available from 2023 and offers a series of improvements over the original GRT8100. Many of the enhancements stem from a new chassis that shares commonality with the chassis from the proven 132 ton capacity GRT8120. Manitowoc unveiled the latest addition in its Potain MDT City crane range at bauma 2022, the 6.6 ton capacity MDT 159, which fills the gap between the MDT 139 and MDT 189. With a 197 ft. maximum jib, the crane is suited to small to midsized building projects of up to 10 floors, and it has been specially designed for tight urban job sites.
