Manitowoc Crawler Cranes Deliver Strong Performance to Wind Farm Builder IEA Constructors →
Machine wear on cranes is a significant issue for those working in wind energy applications. The installation of turbines usually requires crawler cranes to travel hundreds of miles in the course of an assignment, which will result in proportional wear in their undercarriages. But on a project in Texas, where two Manitowoc MLC650 crawler cranes teamed up with two Manitowoc MLC300 crawler cranes, IEA Constructors (IEA) was delighted to note that all four cranes completed the work with only minimal undercarriage wear, avoiding downtime to replace worn parts. From Construction Equipment Guide... A large yellow piece of machinery has been the focal point of bridge construction near the Barboursville exit on Interstate 64 in West Virginia, but many locals and motorists have puzzled over what it is. Grove GMK5250L's Easy Mobility Delivers Precise Lifts at Peruvian Mine →
A Grove GMK5250L all-terrain crane, configured with 300 ft. (91 m) of boom, lifted and placed metal structures that together will form the roof of a machinery warehouse at a mining facility in the Peruvian Andes. Given the constricted workspace at the site, the 300-ton (250 t) capacity mobile crane was the ideal solution for the job, as other vehicles needed to use the same road in which the crane was positioned. ALL Crane Puts Its Transport Fleet to Work for Customers in Hurricane Sally's Wake →
When Hurricane Sally swept through Florida in September, it left behind millions of dollars in damage. This included a couple of cranes at a construction site in the state's panhandle, which were knocked out of commission as a result. It was a small hardship in the overall scheme of things, but significant to the contractor, which was left scrambling for replacements. The good news? The company had two cranes at other sites in Orlando and Tampa that could fill in for the damaged cranes. Click for more...

The ship had just left the Port of Brunswick with 4,200 automobiles in its cargo decks, most of which remain onboard. Click for more...
Mammoet Launches SK6,000 Crane to Enhance FPSO Modularization Strategies →
Constructing FPSO and FLNG modules onshore has allowed EPCs and owners to expedite project schedules and increase cost-effectiveness. By constructing the hull and topsides simultaneously and at greater scale, the time to first production has been reduced. As these components grow, their efficiency rises — but so does the challenge of their integration. The sheer size of these modules lies on the edge of what modern lifting technology can achieve — both from the land and the water — regularly breaking the 3,307 ton barrier and measuring tens of thousands of cubic meters. Working With a Heavy Hauler to Transport Your Crane to the Job Site →
When crane manufacturers promote the features and benefits of a new crane model, "easy transport" is always on the list. With road weight and traffic laws set by local and state transportation departments, crane owners need to know they can get the machine to the job site in the safest, most efficient way possible. Ease of transport is critical to the bottom line. Obtaining city and state law permits to transport cranes and heavy equipment should be high on the crane owner's list when it comes to delivering a construction crane to a job site. Click for more...
Benchmark on Seven Axles: New Demag AC 450-7 All Terrain Crane →
Setting new standards on seven axles — certainly not a humble goal for the engineers at Tadano Demag when they started their work on the new AC 450-7 all terrain crane. And this work was richly rewarded, as their goal was fully met and the crane manufacturer from Zweibrücken, Germany now offers a new seven-axle machine. The basic idea when developing the new AC 450-7 was both simple and demanding: Tadano Demag wanted to "give wheels" to a more powerful alternative to its existing six-axle cranes, with the objective to keep it as compact as its counterparts despite the additional axle, all while combining that with significantly better performance.
